Eat out, make your own food, or visit a burger place every day...?
One of the things that you have to think about when you go on vacation is where you are going to eat. This can actually be a major expense so you are going to want to make sure that you include it in your budget when you are planning your trip. The good news is that it is one of the most flexible things in your budget, if you need to reduce what you are spending on food you will have lots of options.
When it comes to where you are going to eat while you are on vacation you have a few options. Most people will use a combination of all of these but you may find that one is all that you need. The first option that you have is to eat out for every meal. This will get you the best meals but it is also very expensive. Eating in a restaurant is not cheap so most people try to limit how often they do it. If you have the budget for it however it can be a great option.
The way most people will eat the majority of their meals when they are on vacation is street food. This can range anywhere from the large chain fast food restaurants to the guys with carts on the corner. This is a fairly inexpensive way to eat but the quality can be hit and miss. If you go with the big chains you at least will know what you are getting although it may not be all that good. If you eat at the carts on the street on the other hand you may get something that you don't like or you may find that you love it. One of the advantages of eating at the street carts is that you will be eating the same food as the locals which can be a great way to experience the culture.
The last option that you have for food when you are travelling is to cook it yourself. Almost anywhere that you go you will be able to find a grocery store where you can buy your own food. The issue that you are going to have is cooking it. There are a few hotels that offer kitchenettes which may be an option although these are fairly are nowadays. If you are camping you can of course bring a stove with you and cook that way. The last option is to simply buy things that don't need to be cooked, or refrigerated. This approach will work but it will severely limit your options. You will probably find that you can eat some of your meals this way but that you are going to want to find other options just for a little bit of variety.
